Progress comes at a Price

Sometimes progress comes at a price. When the British armies of yesteryear replaced their Longbows with Crossbows their rate of fire fell from around 30 arrows a minute to one every minute. The range of course was improved, but the volume was significantly reduced. It was however seen as progress.
